I'm looking at either a TC29 or a Mahindra 2810. Both seems to do what I need (mowing 5 acres with lots of trees, some box blade work, etc...)
What would be an overwelming reason to spend a couple more thousand for the NH?

For NH - Dealer network - reputation of the tractor - parts availability - resale value.
I would compare the Malhindra to the Kioti, if I needed to save money, but I am looking for value not cheap. The Kioti ,manufacturer is some 55 years old and make the complete tractor, engine and all. Malhindra are some old IH Indian parts and parts bin assemblied of Korean tractors.
From what I have seen the Kioti DX line compares to all the major brands and offere a lot of extras. ....

With the NH you get a real machine that has quality engineered in from the beginning instead of a cheap knockoff wannabe. The NH will hold its value over the next couple of decades. You should consider the TC33 for just a few hundred more. You will not reget spending the money. If you later decide to sell, just look the prices of old red belly fords tha are fifty years old(a crude machine conpared to the TC). ....

OK, I've done some more research and see the value of the NH. I now am looking at a TC30 which is a "no-frills" tracter with just what I need. It has a metal body and plenty of HP for what I'm needing.
Any comments on the TC30 versus TC29 or TC33?

As we have discussed before the TC30 is the old 1725 tractor placed in the TC series as a discount tractor. I don't believe there were many weak points in this tractor and I think the price is right. You can get HST on it if you want. ....

I'm also comparing the Mahindra 2810 to the NH TC30, as well as JD 790, Kubota and Massey. To me, the choice is clearly between the Mahindra and the NH. Both dealers gave me the exact same price, which made the comparison a little easier - just had to decide which one was a better value.
No one can argue that NH has an edge on brand recognition, numerous dealerships, parts availability, etc....but I believe you pay for that upfront and may never need it. For many people this is a concern, but I also believe JD NH and Kubota want to exploit this issue. You need to decide how important it is for you. I grew up working on farm equipment so I feel comfortable making most repairs. But if you have to tow the thing to a dealer for a lightbulb or oil change, the dealer relationship may be more important to you.
Since all the horror stories I heard came from salesmen, I contacted several people who had purchased a 2810 within the past two years. None of them had experienced any breakdowns or had to purchase any parts. That's good in that it proves reliability, but it does not help answer the service, parts concerns.
Resale value should also be better with a NH. But or me, this has no bearing since I don't plan on selling before I wear the thing out.
With that out of the way, I tried to evaluate the tractor and not the name decal. I was impressed with the Mahindra. Both decks are nice, but the Mahindra seemed larger and all the controls were more accessible.
The Mahindra also has 400 pound greater lift capacity, weighs more, and has 12 forward and 12 reverse tranny. But the biggie for me was the independant PTO. Since I expect most of my seat time will be mowing, I believe the independant PTO will be great. ....

I just went with the TC29 doing alot of mowing, I believe the extra money for the 29 vs 30 was worth it. The seat is much more comfortable, the cruise, I know the plastic vs metal, it bothered me to but I liked the controls by my side
